Diabetes Education Program

El Centro Health Education Courses

Diabetes is a lifelong condition, but one that does not need to cause serious disruption to your life. While there is no cure for diabetes at this time, there are several ways to prevent the disease from causing serious complications.

The ECRMC Diabetes Education Program, a Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program recognized by the American Diabetes Association, provides culturally appropriate patient education on diabetes management in English and Spanish. We help participants and their families learn how to manage diabetes and reduce health risks through:

  • Balanced diets
  • Exercise
  • How to accurately monitor blood sugar
  • Medication schedules
  • Techniques for managing diabetes symptoms
  • Overview of insulin – how it works, when to take it
  • And more
