This trial will determine the clinical performance of an investigational laboratory test to identify indicators of infection. Participation may include anyone who has been exposed to an infectious pathogen and/or shows signs of infectious disease and presents to the emergency department or is hospitalized at ECRMC.
The information gathered from this research study may help providers rapidly distinguish between bacterial and viral infection. Equipped with this knowledge, providers can prescribe more appropriate and targeted treatment plans to their patients that in turn will help slow the spread of antimicrobial resistance, which will benefit society as a whole.
