Hotel-Style Room Service Coming to El Centro Regional Medical Center

El Centro, California—On February 28, 2018, El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) will officially begin offering hotel-style room service to their patients, with fresh meals cooked and delivered to patient rooms in 45 minutes.

Using technology from CBORD®, ECRMC will ensure that all meal orders are compliant with each patient’s diet order, as prescribed by their doctor. Menus also account for any food allergies patients might have. Patients will call-in orders to a trained representative who will guide them through the ordering process and help them choose from alternative selections if their initial choices do not comply with their diet order.

ECRMC is just the latest in a wave of hospitals that have been making the switch to room service, a change that has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from patients. “We are more than excited to make this change and dramatically improve the patient meal experience at El Centro Regional Medical Center,” said Marc Walters, Food Services Director.

Studies have shown that hotel-style room service increases patient food intake, leading to quicker recoveries and decreases in lengths of stay. According to Walters, “Food is medicine and we are happy to bring nourishing, fresh and healthy selections to our patients.”
